What is a surd?
When root of a non- negative rational number doesn’t provide an exact solution then the root is called a surd.
Example: - √3 , √5 ,etc.
Origin :-
Around 820 AD al-Khwarizmi called irrational numbers "'inaudible" ... this was later translated to the Latin surdus meaning deaf or mute.
